REPORT: Market for Shane Greene ‘narrowing slightly’

MLB Network reporter Jon Morosi is reporting that the market for Tigers closer Shane Greene is “narrowing slightly” as a result of the Washington Nationals already acquiring two other relievers today.

His report still lists teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves as potential landing spots. For the season, Greene has posted a 1.18 ERA over 38 innings, while racking up 43 strikeouts. He has also closed the door on 22 save opportunities.

While the trade deadline isn’t until 4pm this afternoon, things today seem to have been rather quiet for our Tigers. Nicholas Castellanos and Matthew Boyd are also still on the market at this point, although things seem to be quieting on the Boyd front at this point. Recent dark horse trade piece Buck Farmer remains on the market as well.

There is still plenty of time for something to come together regarding any moves that the Tigers may make today, and there is still a tremendous need for solid relief pitching across the league in circles of contenders.

Although the market may in fact be drying up for the Tigers and their potential trade pieces, we’ll be tracking the moves as they come in across the league this afternoon, and will update you as soon as the Tigers make a move, which still seems to be inevitable. Stay tuned as the deadline approaches!
