REPORT: Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin interviews for Maryland job

According to Pat Forde from Yahoo Sports, University of Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin has interviewed to be the next head coach at Maryland and he is considered to be a “strong candidate” to land the job.

Forde says that Durkin recently met with Maryland officials, and “No job offer was made, but the interview went well, sources said.”

Durkin was brought on by Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and he has done a great job turning the Wolverines defense into one of the top-ranked units in the nation.

Prior to coming to the Wolverines, Durkin was the defensive coordinator at Florida and before that coached with Harbaugh at Stanford. He is also known as one of the most effective recruiters in the country.
