Michigan and Michigan State do not like each other and you can bet Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh and Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio want to beat each other badly.
Ohio State will always be the team most Michigan coches, players, and fans want to beat the most but over the past decade or so, Michigan State has lessened the gap.
For Harbaugh, there may not be that big of a gap at all thanks to the way his wife Sarah was reportedly treated by a Michigan State assistant coach following the Spartans miraculous last second win over the Wolverines in October of 2015.
In the book “Overtime” by John U. Bacon, Bacon writes about how a MSU assistant mocked Harbaugh’s wife following the Wolverines 27-23 loss to the Spartans.
See the exerpt below which details how the Spartans’ assistant mocked Sarah Harbaugh, including mimicking a baby crying and rubbing his eyes with his fists.
This from John u Bacon’s book Overtime – Wow an MSU coach did that to Jim Harbaugh’s wife, that game will never not be personal for Jim and UM.
Also like the article says, had that been a UM coach to Dantonio’s wife, it would have been a national story with a national apology pic.twitter.com/QAcaxchvu0

As Bacon says in his book, “If a Michigan coach pulled something like that, it would be national news, forcing an apology.”
”But that’s not how it goes with the Spartans,” she said.
