REPORT: Michigan’s Juwan Howard to meet with top prospect

Not long after it became official that John Beilein was leaving Michigan for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Wolverines top 2019 commit Jalen Wilson announced he was decommitting from the program.

When Juwan Howard was named as Michigan's next head coach, the hope was he would be able to convince Wilson to recommit to the Wolverines.

According to Michigan insider Sam Webb, Howard will meet with Wilson and his family, soon.

From Michigan Insider:

“I just spoke with Juwan,” Wilson’s mother Lisa told The Michigan Insider earlier today. “He has been in contact with us all. We are going to meet in person soon to discuss his style, changes, etc. in-depth. Jalen is still considering Michigan. (He) just needed to explore other options (because) we weren’t sure what was going to happen.”

Though there has been speculation that Wilson will end up at Kanas with his buddy, RJ Hamton, who happens to be a 5-star recruit, Wilson's mother says the decision will have nothing to do with Hampton.

“Jalen and RJ are best friends, but are two separate individuals,” Mrs. Wilson explained. “RJ is doing what’s best for him, and Jalen will do the same. Him not choosing KU doesn’t affect any decision on Jalen. Jalen is still considering them along with a few others, Michigan being one of them! No other visits have been set at this time however we are considering two more visits.”

Prior to decommiting, Wilson was Michigan's top recruit in the Class of 2019. If Howard can convince him to recommit to the Wolverines, it would be a huge win.
