BREAKING: Multiple teams contact Detroit Lions regarding trade for Calvin Johnson

Fans of the Detroit Lions have fond memories of Calvin Johnson. During his time as a wide receiver in the Honolulu Blue and Silver, Megatron caught 721 passes for 11,619 yards and 83 touchdowns. His retirement caught many fans by surprise. Even with Johnson struggling with injuries most of his career, his exit was abrupt and seemed to take place when he still had gas left in the tank.

Since he has left the game Johnson has not had particularly kind words for the Detroit Lions franchise. He intimated that he was not treated well by the Detroit organization during a local football camp interview. Then, in an interview in Italy, Megatron made it clear that he might’ve continued playing football if he didn’t have to be located in Detroit.

Well, CJ? You might just get your wish. An ESPN report from Adam Schefter makes it clear that there are still teams interested in the superstar wideout…and the Lions are listening.

According to the report, at least two teams are interested in trading for the rights to Calvin Johnson. Schefter says that when contacted, Detroit upper management told the interested parties to get in touch with Megatron and see what his thoughts were. After this ‘have your people contact his people’ situation, the reaction from the Johnson camp is lukewarm at best. However, with the relationship between Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions having deteriorated so far since his retirement, anything is possible at this point.

Johnson played just nine seasons in Detroit. While it would be great for the game to have him back in uniform, it would be tough for Lions fans to watch him making spectacular catches for another team. With the NFL trade deadline set for Tuesday, we’ll keep you posted on this developing story.
