We are less than two weeks away from the Major League Baseball trade deadline and the rumors are heating up regarding the Detroit Tigers and a few of their players.
One of those players is closer Shane Greene, who was selected to the American League All-Star Team following a red-hot first half to the season. Greene has continued his dominance in the second half to the season and he’s one of the most sought-after relievers for contenders who need help in the bullpen.

According to a report from MLB.com, one team interested in dealing for Greene is the Washington Nationals.
The Nationals may want Greene but the Tigers have reportedly asked for their No. 1 prospect, shortstop Carter Kieboom.

Washington has expressed interest in a few relievers who match that description, checking in on Tigers closer Shane Greene, Giants right-hander Sam Dyson and Royals left-hander Jake Diekman, a source confirmed to MLB.com, as Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic first reported. The Tigers reportedly have a high asking price for Greene and are believed to have asked for shortstop Carter Kieboom, the Nats’ top prospect and the No. 20 overall prospect per MLB Pipeline, in return but Washington has balked at including Kieboom in any deal so far, per a source.
By most accounts, it sure sounds like Tigers’ GM Al Avila is shooting for the moon in return for a few of his top players. Whether he is successful in landing a top prospect is another story.
