Report: Pelicans guard Bryce Dejean-Jones killed while breaking into Dallas apartment

According to reports, New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce Dejean-Jones has been shot and killed after allegedly trying to break in to a Dallas apartment.

Sarah Mervosh of The Dallas Morning News reports that police say Dejean-Jones was shot after he “kicked open the front door” of an apartment and the man who had been sleeping inside woke up and grabbed his handgun.

The report adds that the man who was sleeping inside his bedroom tried to call out but did not get an answer. That’s when Dejean-Jones tried to kick down the bedroom door and the man fired his gun, connecting with Dejean-Jones’ abdomen. Police say that Dejean-Jones ran out of the apartment and “collapsed in the breezeway.” He was transported to the hospital, where he then died.
