NHL Free Agency officially kicks off today, and the Detroit Red Wings have a good idea of what they’d like to do.

General manager Steve Yzerman is in the hunt for a forward and a defenseman, and according to a report, would like to focus on short term deals, such as one or two year contracts. The team is allegedly set to sign goaltender Calvin Pickard to a two-year contract to compete for the backup position behind Jimmy Howard.
Here are some options at both positions that the team could consider.
