On Saturday, news broke that the Detroit Red Wings were re-signing Mike Green, signing Jonathan Bernier, and bringing back Thomas Vanek. Craig Custance of The Athletic reported what he believed the contracts for Green and Bernier would look like but did not have details on the length or amount of the Vanek deal.
Expect 3-years around $3 million AAV on Bernier; 2-years in the $5.25-5.5 million AAV range on Green; Vanek talks continue. https://t.co/vvTSXRl6iF

Now Custance is reporting that it “sounds like the Red Wings and Vanek got a deal done. One year, $3 million.”

Vanek, who is 34 years old, previously played in 48 games with the Red Wings during the 2016-2017 campaign before being dealt to the Florida Panthers in March of that season.
