Dylan Larkin’s list of acceptable trade destinations may be much larger than first reported.
The Winged Wheel Podcast shared Friday morning that, per Elliotte Friedman, Larkin’s list has grown to approximately eight American teams. Colorado, Washington, Dallas and Tampa Bay were named among the clubs believed to be on that expanded list.
Earlier reporting had identified the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights as Larkin’s preferred destinations after his trade request became public in June. The Red Wings forward holds significant leverage because of his no-trade protection, and Larkin remains under contract through 2030-31.
Neither Larkin nor the Red Wings have publicly confirmed the precise size of his list. Still, additional approved destinations would give Detroit more potential paths to a trade that returns immediate NHL help instead of a futures-heavy package.

An Expanded List Could Change Detroit’s Options
The most important part of this report is not simply the number of teams. It is the inclusion of more established contenders, which could broaden the type of return Detroit can pursue if trade discussions gain traction.
Larkin reported to camp and has continued working back from an upper-body injury, while the organization has maintained that discussions about his future will remain private. Shawn Horcoff’s interim appointment also leaves Detroit in an unusual position as it evaluates one of the franchise’s biggest decisions.
For now, an expanded list should be viewed as a potential development, not evidence that a trade is imminent. The Red Wings would still need to find a package that meets their current competitive goals.
