On Friday, the New Orleans Saints placed QB Drew Brees on injured-reserve after he broke multiple ribs during Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Initial reports indicated that Brees broke five ribs during the game but according to a tweet by Adam Schefter, the future Hall of Famer actually broke 11 ribs! Yes, he broke 45.8% of his ribs in a football game!
Brees had X-rays, CAT scans and has been seen by doctors every other day this week. They have now confirmed eight rib fractures on his left side and three on the right. That’s more than double the total from testing performed on Monday that revealed five rib fractures.

Werder also noted “that doctors have been encouraged by his progress — specifically improvement in lung function and the continued dissipation of the pneumothorax suffered last week.”
Let’s hope Brees heals up well.
