Reports surfaced last week that former Detroit Tigers outfielder Nicholas Castellanos was drawing interest from the San Francisco Giants.
And now, it looks like those rumors are beginning to heat up.
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, an unnamed MLB executive is “discouraged” about his team’s chances of landing Castellanos because it sounds like the Giants are the clear favorites. Additionally, Giants beat writer Henry Schulman tweeted that the team’s interest in Castellanos is “genuine”.
I couldn't get close enough to Scott Boras for his scrum. (I did see the brand new Boras Corp. logo jacket and backdrop he brought. Cool.) But am hearing the #SFGiants interest in one of his clients, Nick Castellanos is genuine. And a HUGE nugget: Castellanos loves Sausalito.

Castellanos is an intriguing option for San Francisco with his .891 career OPS and .532 slugging percentage against left-handed pitchers. He played five full seasons for Detroit before being traded to the Chicago Cubs last July. His overall numbers for last season included a .289 batting average, 27 home runs, 73 RBI and 58 doubles – good for first in all of baseball.
It certainly helps things that Castellanos has a tie to the Giants already – Scott Harris was the Cubs’ assistant GM last season when Chicago traded for him, and he’s now the Giants GM.
