Report: Ziggy Ansah listed as “questionable” vs. Giants

If the Detroit Lions are to move to 2-0 on the young season against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, they may have to do it without a key piece of their lineup.

Defensive end Ziggy Ansah has been listed as questionable for the Monday night matchup by the Lions. However, he wouldn’t be the only big name potentially missing this contest, as the Giants have listed star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as questionable.

Ansah did, however, put in a full week of practice, which may indicate he could join the team for Monday’s game. A knee injury kept him out of training camp, and got just 34 reps in Detroit’s Week 1 victory over the Arizona Cardinals at Ford Field. It was the second fewest amount of reps for Detroit’s defensive ends unit. ProFootballFocus credited Ansah with four hurries, though he didn’t have any tackles or sacks.

Aside from the questionable status of Ansah, the Lions don’t currently have any other injuries, and everyone else is expected to be available Monday night.

Meanwhile, the Lions aren’t focusing on who is healthy and who isn’t for the Giants, instead choosing to focus as if they’re set to face an entirely healthy opponent.

“We prepare as if he’s going to play, bottom line,” Detroit defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said. “So there will be no surprises. He shows up and plays, we’re going to be prepared for him.”

The Lions and Giants will get underway from Met Life Stadium in the Meadowlands Monday night at 8:30 EST on ESPN.
