Chances are the Detroit Tigers will not win very many games in 2018. That is something Tigers fans have either accepted or will be forced to accept as next season unfolds.
But, they will certainly win some games, right? And they will need a solid bullpen, considering the current status of the starting rotation, to win those games, right?
Well, according to MLB insider, Chris Cotillo, the Tigers are one of the teams currently in the mix to sign closer, Fernando Rodney.

Rodney, who has spent 15 years in Major League Baseball, played with the Tigers from 2002 through 2009. During those years, he saved 70 games while posting an ERA of 4.28. Rodney’s best season in came in 2012 when he saved 48 games with the Tampa Bay Rays while putting up a microscopic ERA of 0.60. During that season, he was named to the American League All-Star team and even finished 5th in the Cy Young voting.

In 2017, Rodney saved 39 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks, posting an ERA of 4.23.
As it currently stands, Shane Greene would likely be the closer to start the season for the Tigers, but that could all change if Rodney is brought back to the motor city. This past season, Greene saved nine games for the Tigers while putting up a 2.66 ERA in 71 total games pitched.

It’s been an exciting past couple of days if you’re a fan of the Detroit Tigers, more so if you were around to witness their 1984 World Series championship win.
Former Tigers pitcher Jack Morris and shortstop Alan Trammell were elected into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday by the hall’s Modern Era Committee. The team has also already made tribute videos to honor their former franchise standouts and have announced plans to retire their numbers in Tigers history.
