The Detroit Lions continue to make the rounds in search of their new permanent head coach. And now, a new name has been thrown into the mix.
According to Mike Garafolo, the Lions have officially requested permission to interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles:
The #Lions have put in a request to interview #Buccaneers DC Todd Bowles for their vacant head-coaching position, sources say. Interview not scheduled yet as the sides wait for the outcome of tonight’s game but Bowles expected to meet with Detroit and the #Falcons.

Bowles is set to interview with the Atlanta Falcons next week.
He’s served as a head coach on both interim and regular basis with the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. The Bucs defense under his leadership has finished 1st overall against the run this season.
This will also be the second go-around that Bowles has with potentially coming to the Motor City, as he was interviewed in 2009 prior to the job ultimately landing with Jim Schwartz.
