The Detroit Tigers took care of another housekeeping procedure on Friday afternoon, inking pitcher Joe Jimenez to a contract extension worth $1.5 million.

He originally signed with the Tigers in 2013 out of Puerto Rico. He was selected to the 2018 All-Star game after posting a 2.72 ERA through the break in the 2018 season. Last year, he amassed a 1–3 record with 7.15 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 22 2⁄3 innings pitched.
