Talk about getting the monkey off your back!
Maligned Detroit Red Wings forward Riley Sheahan went the entire 2016-2017 season without scoring a goal, until this afternoon. In the final game ever at Joe Louis Arena, Sheahan roofed a shot past New Jersey Devils goaltender Cory Schneider to break his goalless drought that dated back to the last game of last year’s regular season.

Earlier this year, Sheahan set the Red Wings record for most games without a goal by a forward. Even though it’s the last game of the year, he’ll certainly feel a little better about himself.
