Ron Garndenhire reveals when Detroit Tigers’ will begin calling up prospects

After a solid start to the 2019 season, all things considered, the Detroit Tigers have hit a rough patch and how sit at 18-28 following two-straight losses to the Marlins.

So, the question is, when will the Tigers start calling up some of their top prospects from the minor leagues?

Tigers’ manager Ron Gardenhire joined the Jamie and Stoney Show on 97.1 The Ticket on Thursday morning and indicated that some of the organizations younger players would be getting the call before long. Gardy would not commit to saying Casey Mize or Matt Manning would be included in the call ups but he did not rule them out.

From 97.1 The Ticket:

“We’ve had conversations. Not just about those two guys, but about a lot of different things and filtering in kids as the season goes along after the All-Star break,” Ron Gardenhire told the Jamie and Stoney Show on 97.1 The Ticket. “Getting younger, we’ve definitely talked about that. We’re already pretty young in a lot of places, but we’re going to get younger as the season goes along.”

“Let’s give these guys a chance. Whether it’s those guys (Mize and Manning) or others, you’re going to see some other people come up, some other pitchers and stuff like that,” Gardenhire said. “I won’t exactly put those names out there. That’s all up to the boss and what they want to do with them. But after the All-Star break we’re going to bring some people in. It’s already been talked about.

“That’s our goal in this organization, to get people up that we think are going to have a part in this thing.”
