Royals acquire Johnny Cueto from the Reds

The Kansas City Royals have the best record in the American League and now they have gone out and added an ace pitcher.

According to reports, the Royals have traded the Cincinnati Reds for Johnny Cueto. The deal has the Royals giving up three left-handed prospects including, Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb, and Cody Reed, but it was a move that makes them the clear favorite to come out of the American League.

Cueto was considered one of the best players available to grab before the trade deadline and the Royals ponied up to get him. So far in 19 games started for the Reds in 2015, Cueto is 7-6 with and ERA of 2.62 and a WHIP of 0.93.

The 29-year-old will become a free agent following this season and therefore, may just be a rental for the Royals, who look to get back to the World Series for a second consecutive year.
