New Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman has slowly made his mark on the organization since returning home to take over duties from Ken Holland this past April. He’s yet to make a major move, however.
But could that change?
According to to HockeyBuzz.com, the Red Wings are allegedly considering trading forward Anthony Mantha to the Buffalo Sabres as part of a five-player deal that could see defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen land in Detroit.
“Quick Hit…This is a developing story…the rumor is Ristolainen and Mantha are being discussed as part of a 5 player deal between the Sabres and Red Wings…..stay tuned..”.
Selected eighth overall by the Sabres in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Ristolainen has been rumored on the trade block by Buffalo for some time now. He put up 43 points in 78 games for the Sabres last year, with a cringe-worthy plus/minus rating of -41.
Meanwhile, Mantha put up a career-high 25 goals last season.
