RUMOR: Detroit Red Wings to trade for Tampa Bay Lightning All-Star?

According to NHL Trade Rumors, the Detroit Red Wings could end up trading for Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point.

Point, who was an All-Star this past season, scored 41 goals and dished out 51 assists with the Lightning during the 2018-2019 season.

According to a source, the contract talks between the Tampa Bay Lightning and forward Brayden Point have deteriorated. The 23-year-old center had a breakout last season, scoring 41 goals and 51 assists in 79 games played.

Point was rumored to have turned down an offer sheet from the Montreal Canadiens a couple weeks ago, and now it’s rumored that a trade could materialize with the Detroit Red Wings.

We would like to emphasize that this is purely a rumor at this point but it is certainly interesting, especially considering Red Wings’ GM Steve Yzerman’s ties to Tampa Bay.
