It may have been nothing more than a tweet, but it carried a cryptic message that will certainly raise a few eyebrows.
According to former Detroit News writer Lynn Henning, the Detroit Tigers will remain under the control of the Ilitch family – for now.
Most trusted information from those who would know is consistent: Tigers will remain an Ilitch property, but only with certainty as long as Marian Ilitch is still with us. Afterward, it is believed they will be sold. There are multiple suitors. There have been overtures.

There are reportedly “multiple suitors”, and the most obvious name that fans will bring up is Dan Gilbert, who currently owns the Cleveland Cavaliers. He hasn’t expressed interest in purchasing the team, however.
The Tigers are currently in the midst of a rebuild and have already compiled 100 losses for the first time since the disastrous 2003 season. How much would a change in ownership accelerate the rebuild?
