Rumor: The Lions inquired about Jets safety Jamal Adams

According to Sports Illustrated, the Detroit Lions have inquired about the availability of New York Jets safety Jamal Adams.

Adams is among the best safeties in the NFL, would fill the void left by Quandre Diggs who the Lions shipped to Seattle, and would pair very nicely with Darius Slay in the defensive backfield.

This rumor would indicate that the Lions are in win-now mode as they would likely have to pony up a tremendous amount of draft capital.

The asking price for the Lions was too high according to SI, but it is definitely something to keep an eye on as we approach the 4:00pm EST trade deadline.

Adams, 24, was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and has quickly made a name for himself in the league. In addition to making the pro-bowl last season, Adams was also named a second-team all-pro.

For reference, Fitzpatrick netted the Dolphins a first-round pick in 2020, a fifth-round pick in 2020, and a sixth-round pick in 2021.
