If you are a fan of the Michigan Wolverines, it’s probably not the New Year’s Day Outback Bowl you are excited about but something that could impact the future of the football program.

Ever since it was announced that Ole Miss would be ineligible to play in Bowl games for next two seasons, rumors began to fly about their quarterback, Shea Patterson.

Patterson, who was the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the Class of 2016, has been rumored to be transferring before the 2018 season and Michigan immediately emerged as the odds-on favorite to land him.

Now, according to a source of Michigan Sports Zone, it sounds like Patterson will be visiting the University of Michigan very soon and if he does transfer, the Wolverines will likely be his choice.

From Michigan Sports Zone:

  • Shea Patterson is “most likely” going to visit Michigan on the 9th, but don’t be shocked if he announces his transfer before then. That is per our source.

  • Based on all of the reports that we have gotten from our sources, our confidence level is now extremely high that Patterson will be playing for Michigan next season.

  • We are also very confident that Shea will be eligible to play right away next season if he transfers based on everything we have heard.

It’s important to keep in mind that Patterson nor his camp has come out and announced anything yet, but it has been reported that he has been granted permission to talk to other schools if he does decide to leave Ole Miss.

So, Wolverines Nation, is this a move you would like or would you rather roll with Brandon Peters and Dylan McCaffrey next season?

  1. It’s a meritocracy. Bringing in excellent talent only makes everyone better. I have no doubt Peters and McCaffery are just as good as Patterson, so let’s see who’s the best! Heck, they can all learn different techniques from each other. If you’re afraid of competition, you should probably not be at Michigan.
