On August 30, Miguel Cabrera reached a milestone by picking up his 2,000th hit as a member of the Detroit Tigers.
Unfortunately, there were no fans in the stands to see Miggy's hit, but that did not stop him from taking a curtain call, almost as if Comerica Park was full.

On Friday, the Tigers posted a video to their YouTube page which includes Miggy talking about his milestone achievements and thanking Tigers' fans.
“I was going to say thank you to city of Detroit, to the Tigers, because they really opened the door to me to feel comfortable here in Detroit,” Cabrera said. “I’m always going to appreciate that. I’m always going to be thankful for that. It was sad because there were no fans, you know, there were no people in the stands to see it. It was something I decided to do because I always want to do that.”
“It’s really special because you see the history of the Tigers, you see the history of Detroit. They have a lot of Hall-of-Famers, they have a lot of great players, they have a lot of good people who wore this uniform of the Tigers,” Cabrera said. “So to be part of the history of Detroit, to be part of the history of baseball, that means a lot to me because I come from Venezuela.”

Miggy said he did not even know he was approaching 2,000 hits in a Tigers' uniform.
“I didn’t even know that hit was going to be 2,000 with the Tigers because I don’t follow numbers,” Cabrera said. “I don’t follow personal numbers. But to be honest, it was very exciting for me, for my family and my friends.”
Up next for Cabrera is 3,000 career hits (he has 2,854 now). Getting his 3,000th hit could happen in 2021, assuming he can stay healthy.
“Three thousand hits sounds good, you know. It’s something I got in my mind,” he said.
Miggy also said he wants to win a World Series for Detroit.
“I want to see the Tigers win at some point,” he said. “I want to see our team go out there and be a championship team. I want to be a part of a special team. I think we’ve got a great chance to do it soon because we’ve got a lot of talent in the minor leagues. So hopefully we can go out there and win a championship for Detroit.”
