The Detroit Lions didn’t waste any time lighting up the scoreboard Sunday afternoon against the Cincinnati Bengals. On the team’s opening drive, tight end Sam LaPorta hauled in a short pass from Jared Goff and turned it into a 10-yard touchdown.

LaPorta showed his trademark toughness and athleticism on the play, going airborne after contact to break the plane and secure his first touchdown of the 2025 season.

The score, which capped off a 7-play, 58-yard drive that lasted 4:10, put the Lions up 7–0 early. The touchdown also marked a milestone moment for LaPorta: his 18th career touchdown, tying him for fourth all-time in Lions franchise history among tight ends.
If this is how Detroit starts on the road, the Bengals could be in for a long afternoon.
