San Antonio gets their revenge, Pistons lose on the road

The Detroit Pistons (12-21) couldn't get it done on the road tonight, losing to the San Antonio Spurs (13-18) 136-109. The Spurs likely had revenge on their minds entering tonight's game after the Pistons put up a season-high 132 points against them in a 132-98 win over the Spurs earlier this month. Prior to today's game, the Spurs won eight of their last nine home games against the Pistons. The Pistons hung around in this one until the middle of the third quarter when the Spurs opened the floodgates and went on a 20-4 run to pull ahead 90-71 with 3:07 left in the third quarter. The Pistons weren't able to recover from the onslaught.

The Pistons were without Markieff Morris (left foot sprain) and Luke Kennard (knee) in tonight's game. Pistons' first-round rookie Sekou Doumbouya (illness) also missed tonight's game. Doumbouya figures to receive more minutes when he does return with Morris on the shelf for what may be an extended period of time.

Derrick Rose rose to the occasion tonight, scoring 24 points while dishing out four assists and adding a couple of steals in tonight's defeat. Andre Drummond, who started tonight scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds during the first half, finished tonight's game with 21 points and 18 rebounds. Blake Griffin couldn't get it going tonight, scoring 12 points on 3-of-16 shooting.

Spurs' guard DeMar DeRozan led the charge for the Spurs. He finished tonight's game with 29 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. LaMarcus Aldridge finished tonight's game scoring 25 points while adding 12 rebounds for the Spurs.

The Pistons are off tomorrow but will return to action on Monday against the Utah Jazz on the road at 9 PM.
