While speculation initially abounded once the announcement of the firings of GM Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia were announced as to whether they’d be using a search firm to aid in finding their replacements, a decision has come through.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Lions will not be employing the services of a search firm:
“Speaking of coaching searches, one note: While the #Texans will use a search firm for their coaching/GM search, the #Falcons and the #Lions won’t use a search firm to lead their respective searches,” he wrote on Twitter.
During her press conference announcing the firings, team owner Sheila Ford Hamp hinted at the possibility of using a firm:
“We talked about that,” Ford Hamp said. “We probably will. We’re going to be talking to a lot of people and using a lot of resources simultaneously. We’re not going to just rely on one avenue. There’s going to be several things we’re doing.”
Of course, a search firm was employed in 2015, which resulted in Bob Quinn heading to the Motor City.
