The Detroit Lions continue building their offseason depth in the trenches. On Tuesday afternoon, the team announced that center Seth McLaughlin has been signed to a futures contract, adding another developmental piece to the offensive line room.

McLaughlin spent the 2024 season at Ohio State, where he started the first 10 games before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury. Despite the injury, his performance was so strong that he still earned first-team All-America and first-team All-Big Ten honors.
Before transferring to Columbus, McLaughlin played four seasons at Alabama (2020–23), appearing in 46 games with 35 starts at center.
After going undrafted, McLaughlin signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in May 2025. He was waived during final roster cuts but immediately returned to the practice squad, spending the entire season rehabbing and developing with the organization.
Now healthy and entering Detroit’s system on a futures deal, McLaughlin will have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot and continue his comeback heading into 2026.
