Shots Fired! Detroit Lions T.J. Lang destroys Jameis Winston for ‘Eating W’s’ speech

Over the years, there have been some epic pregame speeches that have fired up a team prior to a big game. Ray Lewis, Herb Brooks, Vince Lombardi, Bo Schembechler, and Knute Rockne are just a few coaches who immediately come to mind when thinking about great speeches.

Something tells us that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will not be joining that list anytime soon, especially after the pregame speech he gave this past Sunday prior to the game against the New Orleans Saints.

In case you missed the speech, which has been titled “Eating W’s”, take a look and listen for yourself so you know exactly what we are referring to.

The speech, which is one of the oddest things we have ever seen in the NFL, spread like wildfire across social media and other players across the league had quite a bit of fun with it.

One of those players is T.J. Lang of the Detroit Lions. On Tuesday, Lang joined WXYT-FM (97.1 The Ticket) and he tore Winston apart for his speech, calling it “one of the most embarrassing pregame speeches” he has ever seen.

From Detroit Free Press:

“I’m not going to lie. That was one of the most embarrassing pregame speeches I’ve ever seen,” Lang told the radio station during his weekly appearance on Tuesday. “It wouldn’t have been as bad if his teammates got riled up, but the looks on their faces like, ‘What the hell just happened?’ I mean, if the guys would have got riled up, you could have been like, ‘OK, that was kind of funny, it was kind of cool.’ But it was just dead, man. It was brutal.”

By most accounts, Winston is a good teammate and a great leader who is not one to hold back his passion for the game. Unfortunately, no matter what he does in the league from this point on, he will always be known for sucking on his fingers during a disaster of a pregame speech.

For the record, the speech did not help too much as the Buccaneers fell flat on their face in a 30-10 loss in New Orleans.
