The Detroit Lions are off to an 0-2 start and plenty of fans are calling for head coach Matt Patricia to be fired immediately.
Now, I too believe it is time to move on from Patricia but there is no chance that will happen before the Lions bye week in Week 5, and to be honest, I would not be surprised if they allow him to finish out the season, even if the team keeps losing.
But when Patricia is finally let go, who will replace him? Will the Lions look to bring in an offensive-minded head coach like Kansas City Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy (my pick) or will they bring in another defensive mind?
If they do decide to bring in another defensive guru to clean up Patricia’s mess on the defensive side of the ball, the Lions should look no further than Dearborn native, Robert Saleh.
Saleh, who played high school football at Dearborn Fordson High School, is currently the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and he almost surely will get a head coaching opportunity at the conclusion of the season.
Saleh is a high-character individual who players will respect and I would not be surprised at all if he became the Lions’ next head coach.
Nation, would you like to see the Lions bring in Saleh? Or, would you prefer an offensive mind?
