On Monday evening, Adam Schefter reported the Detroit Lions have agreed to a 1-year contract with former Los Angeles Rams running back, C.J. Anderson.

Despite the Lions bringing back Zach Zenner, and some reported the team liked “The Doctor” as their No. 2 running back, my belief was they could do better. Whether that was signing a free agent or grabbing one in the NFL Draft, an upgrade seemed necessary.
Anderson, who is a physical runner, is a nice complement to starter Kerryon Johnson, who is more of a shifty/make you miss type of back.
So, what exactly does this mean for the Lions running back situation?

Well, first of all, Anderson is more than likely the No. 2 running back, while Zenner will probably take the No. 3 spot, assuming he performs well in camp. My guess would be that Theo Riddick could end up being the odd man out. Riddick has shown flashes of brilliance as a back who can get open and catch passes on 3rd down but his money ($4.625 million cap hit) is probably too much to keep him on the team at this point.
Nation, what do you think this means for the Lions running back stable? Is Theo Riddick on the way out? Will Zach Zenner be the odd man out?
