Snowden was one of the Utes’ top defensive backs over the past two seasons, totaling 85 tackles, 17 pass breakups, four interceptions and a forced fumble. He developed into a reliable nickel corner under Whittingham, showing the ability to cover in space, play the run, and make plays on the football. His production and consistency have made him one of the most sought-after defensive backs in the portal, as evidenced by his No. 3 ranking among cornerbacks in the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings.
A former four-star recruit, Snowden brings experience, toughness, and versatility to Michigan’s defense. He played a key role in Utah’s secondary, lining up inside and outside, and was trusted in high-leverage situations. That kind of trust doesn’t come easily in Whittingham’s program, which makes this commitment even more telling.
For Michigan, this is a major addition at a position of need and another sign that Whittingham is leaning into the culture and players he knows best as he builds his roster. Snowden arrives with proven Big 12 production, elite portal credentials, and a deep understanding of the defensive system his new head coach wants to implement.
In short, Whittingham didn’t just bring a familiar player with him from Salt Lake City, he brought one of his very best.
