Could the son of a former Detroit Lions Pro Bowler be a fit for Matt Patricia’s defense?

There is no question about it. The Detroit Lions are a better team now than they were when the 2018 regular season ended. General manager Bob Quinn has made some key additions via free agency who are likely to play a big role moving forward and that is certainly a good thing.

That being said, there are still plenty of holes to fill and you can bet Quinn will be looking to do some filling when the 2019 NFL Draft rolls around.

Though most of those holes will be addressed in the early and mid rounds of the draft, there are always diamonds in the rough who are taken in the 6th and 7th round. The question is, which NFL GMs will be able to find the under-the-radar player who will fit his team’s system?

According to a recent 7-round mock draft compiled by Dane Brugler of The Athletic, the son of a former Lions’ Pro Bowl player will have an opportunity to play in Detroit.

Brugler has the Lions selecting linebacker Kaden Elliss out of Idaho with their final pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The name last name Elliss should ring a bell for Lions’ fans as Luther Elliss spent nine seasons with the Lions after being selected by them in the 1st round of the 1995 NFL Draft. In those nine seasons, Luther racked up 322 tackles and 27 sacks while being a force on the defensive line.
