History was made tonight for the Detroit Tigers in Seattle!
Pitcher Spencer Turnbull tossed the 8th no hitter in Detroit Tigers history, and the first in over a decade since Justin Verlander did so in 2011. Turnbull earned nine strikeouts while walking just two Seattle Mariners batters.
He was interviewed immediately after the historic accomplishment and had this to say:
“I don’t have words right now,” he said. “Probably the best day, best night of my life to be honest with you. It’s pretty freaking cool. I just don’t know what to say, it’s surreal, I’m just trying to soak it in.”
But right then and there, he caught a towel-full of shaving cream to the face, courtesy of Jake Rogers:
Fresh off throwing the 8th no-hitter in @tigers franchise history, Spencer Turnbull joins us on Tigers LIVE to share all the emotions and joy of tossing an absolute gem. Shaving cream MANDATORY for this interview, folks. #DetroitRoots pic.twitter.com/wVnsWNWg6d
