It’s legendary captain Steve Yzerman‘s birthday, so let’s throw it back to the 2002 Stanley Cup playoffs when he received a pretty thoughtful gift from the St. Louis Blues!
During the 3rd period of Game 4 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals, defenseman Steve Duchesne dumped the puck towards Blues goaltender Brent Johnson, who caught it and immediately tried to clear it out. The only problem was that Yzerman was zeroing in.
The puck deflected off Yzerman and careened into the net, giving Detroit a 4-1 lead.
