The 95th Detroit Red Wings season officially begins tonight, as the rebuilding squad takes the ice at Little Caesars Arena against the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
With several new faces on the roster along with more than a few familiar names having departed, the team continues to take steps in their rebuild under 3rd year GM Steve Yzerman.
Of course, having participated in over 20 home opening games himself during his legendary playing career, Yzerman knows the feeling that each of the players have right now.
“It’s an exciting game, it’s your first home game obviously, and you want to make a good impression,” he said.
