It sure took a lot longer than many expected but on Wednesday, one day be for the start of the season, Steve Yzerman officially named Dylan Larkin as the next captain of the Detroit Red Wings.
Following the announcement, Yzerman spoke to the media and explained why Larkin got the honor.
“He stands out as a leader in his work ethic,” Yzerman told reporters. “He’s a mature young man, he cares, he’s responsible. He has a lot of the characteristics that make him a leader.”
