Back in March, Detroit Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson joined the ‘Bussin with the Boys’ podcast and he shared a story about former Lions GM Bob Quinn telling him he was not the same guy he drafted and that he liked to have too much fun.
“Bob Quinn, literally six months after he drafted me said, ‘You’re not the same guy I drafted. You like to have way too much fun.'” Hockenson said. “I like to laugh, I like to have fun. That’s my thing. I am playing a kids game.”
Following Hockenson’s comments, quite a few people (including me) bashed Quinn for being a tool.
During a recent interview with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Hockenson clarified his story about Quinn
The comments were not meant as a negative, Hockenson said. Quinn was just stating the obvious: There was another side to the tight end that many took to be all about football.
“He loved it, but he was like, ‘Dude, I didn’t realize this in the draft,'” Hockenson said. “I was like, ‘No, that’s who I am.’ He was like, ‘I love it.’ He was always cool with it, but yeah, he didn’t realize that. So I’ve been branching my sail out more and trying to do that for sure.”
Well, this certainly changes things a bit but Quinn is still a tool in my book!
