The Detroit Tigers are about halfway through their spring training stint down in Lakeland, Florida. This is where you see all thirty big league clubs start to make moves such as assigning players to the minors and figuring out roles and positions for their key players. For Detroit, the pitching is still a question mark, particularly the bullpen. They also have an emergency catcher plan if a situation were to arise. Report: Blue Jays’ Navarro says Tigers have interest in him

In February, Toronto Blue Jays backup catcher Dioner Navarro was being talked about as a possible trade target for the Detroit Tigers. The rumor gave Tigers fans indication that they were not sold on starting catcher Alex Avila’s health issues and hitting woes, and maybe even felt that catching prospect James McCann was not ready to take the reigns as an everyday catcher. Nothing came of it, as talks broke down and nothing serious was ever really offered for the 31-year old catcher. On Tuesday, rumors surfaced that once again, the Tigers may be interested in Navarro.
