Before the Detroit Red Wings battled the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night, the Senators held a special pregame ceremony for their long-time captain.
Daniel Alfredsson had his No. 11 retired and raised to the rafters at Canadian Tire Centre. The Red Wings took in the ceremony from their team bench, as many on the roster were teammates with Alfredsson during his one season with Detroit. The Red Wings roster also includes several of Alfredsson’s Swedish countrymen.
He thanked the Red Wings for taking in the ceremony and for their one season together.
