Awful call costs Lions a victory at Seattle (w/ VIDEO)

It should have been 1st down and Lions ball on the 6 inch line. Yet again, the Detroit Lions are screwed by the gray area of the NFL Rulebook. “The ball cannot be batted in either endzone by either team when it’s loose. That’s illegal batting and a 10 yard penalty.”

NFL head of officials Dean Blandino stated that the Lions actually should have gotten the fumbled ball back at the half-yard line on the play since the ball was intentionally batted out of the end zone by Seahawks linebacker KJ Wright.

Blandino, speaking to Monday Night Football, said the batted ball part of the play is not reviewable even though it was a turnover.
