25th Anniversary of the “Bad Boys” going back-to-back [Video]

As I sit here writing this, I cannot believe it’s been 25 years since the Detroit Pistons won the second of their back-to-back NBA Championships.

If you are from Michigan, you most likely loved the “Bad Boys” and if you were from anywhere else you probably hated them. Regardless, you have to admit there will never be another team quite like the Detroit Pistons from 1989-1990. That team was tough, physical, determined, and most of all, they had each others backs no matter what happened.

As I searched for the perfect tribute video to honor the 1989-1990 Pistons, the first thing that came to mind was ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary titled, “Bad Boys.” It’s hands-down the best film on the team that I have ever seen. If you have not watched this, it is a must see.

There have been countless names discussed, with the most prominent (and realistic) being Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky, Duke’s Justice Winslow, Arizona’s Stanley Johnson and Mario Hezonja from Croatia. Of those four, Hezonja appears to be the wildcard, due in … Read more

Max Scherzer, gone. Ndamukong Suh, gone. Mike Babcock, gone. Yes, ladies and gentlemen this happened. Detroit is not Dead: How sports gives this city hope

I didn’t grow up in Detroit, in fact I didn’t grow up anywhere near it. I’ve spent my entire life living in the thumb of Michigan, about 100 miles away from downtown Detroit. So, I’m probably not the one you would expect to write this piece, but here goes nothing.

Pistons look to end eight game slide against Blazers

The Detroit Pistons have officially hit their free fall. Now six games out of playoff contention and losers of eight straight, the Pistons are almost assuredly lottery bound.

Their opponents for tonight’s matchup, the Portland Trail Blazers, are in an entirely different place. Despite losing the franchise’s all-time 3-point FG leader, Wes Matthews, to an Achilles tear, Portland is still making a run towards home court advantage in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs, currently sitting at #3 in the conference behind the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies.
