The near combined no-hitter by Kansas City was set up by starter Chris Young, who pitched the minimum five innings, striking out nine Tigers hitters and walking three. On Saturday, Detroit could not have asked for a better performance out of their ace David Price. Price threw a complete game, giving up just one earned run on five hits, and striking out three. He was efficient and just what the doctor ordered. The Tigers earned themselves a split in the series after the bats finally woke up in Kansas City, behind a quality start by Anibal Sanchez, giving up three earned runs in 7 1/3 innings.
