Tigers give Joba Chamberlain unconditional release

Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros players have a pre-game standoff

Some Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros players had a little fun today after the National Anthem. Joba Chamberlain, Rajai Davis and company competed against six Astros players to see who could stand out longer after the anthem was played.

The standoff went on for over a minute when finally the Astros players caved in. This, of course, caused celebration from the Tigers players. 

This is hardly the first time a standoff like this has happened, as it is becoming a trend in the majors for players to do this after the National Anthem is played. 

It is definitely worth a laugh. 

 

Series recap: Tigers salvage game in series loss to Chicago

The Detroit Tigers closed out their 10-game road trip Thursday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox. They came into the series with a 4-3 record on the road trip, having taken two of three from the Minnesota Twins, and winning the latter two games of the 4-game set against the Kansas City Royals. Despite the series loss and a .500 road trip, there is a lot to take away from this series on the south side of Chicago.

The Detroit Tigers are about halfway through their spring training stint down in Lakeland, Florida. This is where you see all thirty big league clubs start to make moves such as assigning players to the minors and figuring out roles and positions for their key players. For Detroit, the pitching is still a question mark, particularly the bullpen. They also have an emergency catcher plan if a situation were to arise.
