Justin Verlander threw 5 scoreless innings and the Tigers got some early runs in a 4-2 Opening Day defeat of the Minnesota Twins. The win was Verlander’s 1st career Opening Day win in 6 tries. Detroit scored two in the top of the first when Austin Jackson scored on a fielder’s choice, then Prince Fielder smacked a double to left, scoring Miguel Cabrera. Omar Infante followed up in the 2nd with an RBI single, scoring Jhonny Peralta.
