Taking a closer look at the Detroit Red Wings 2017-2018 schedule

After coming off a disappointing season last year, the Detroit Red Wings look to turn things around in 2017-2018. If you are looking to make a trip to Little Caesars Arena or just watch your favorite team at home, there are some games you should mark down on your calendar.

In October, there are a few games worth noting. The first one is Opening Night at the new arena. Detroit is hosting the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 5 to start the season. On Oct. 13, they will be playing the newly added Las Vegas Golden Knights at T-MobilArenana for the first time. The Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs square off in an original matchup up on Oct. 18 at the Air Canada Center in Toronto.

NHL: Jimmy Howard 2

November brings a few intriguing games for the Red Wings. They play the highly talented Edmonton Oilers twice during the month. One game is in Edmonton and the other is in Detroit. Detroit hosts an original six contest at Little Caesars Arena against the Montreal Canadians on Nov. 30.

Toronto comes to the LCA in December. Another game to highlight in December is on New Year’s Eve in Detroit. The Red Wings will host the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

In January, Detroit plays the Chicago Blackhawks twice. One game is at the United Center in Chicago and the other is at the LCA. This is an original six contest as well as a heated rivalry in the NHL.

February brings two games against the runner-up Nashville Predators. Nashville was the last seed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs but was still able to make a miraculous run to the finals.

In March, the Las Vegas Golden Knights play their first game at Little Caesars Arena against the Red Wings. Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals come to Detroit on Mar. 22 as well.

At the beginning of April, the Red Wings play their last three games of the regular season. The New York Islanders are in town on April 7th for last game of season. That will conclude the first year at Little Caesars Arena for the Red Wings.
