Taylor Decker may miss most of Detroit Lions 2017 season

Earlier this week, we learned Taylor Decker underwent shoulder surgery after suffering an injury during practice. At the time, coach Jim Caldwell said the team didn’t have a timetable for his return and they would address it at the start of the season.

We now have a little more information about Decker’s injury and it’s not welcome news to Lions fans.

That’s a brutal blow to a team that invested heavily in the offensive line this offseason and has struggled to keep quarterback Matthew Stafford upright at times. Already the league’s worst run blocking unit, the Lions will have to make major adjustments to mitigate the loss of their rising left tackle.

There are few guys who can step into Decker’s shoes with minimal dropoff but that’s exactly what the Lions need.

If they can’t, Stafford and Lions nation could be in for a rough season.
