Former Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince has been promoted to Vice President of Basketball Operations for Memphis. According to the press release, Prince will “facilitate alignment between the front office, coaching staff and locker room and participate in the evaluation of professional, college and G League personnel.”
Prince was a key member of the “Goin’ to Work” Pistons team that won the NBA championship in 2004, and then came within a game of repeating as champions the following season.
Following his 14 year NBA career with the Pistons and stints with the Grizzlies, Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves, Prince joined the Grizzlies front office as special assistant to the general manager.
“We are excited to establish Tayshaun as a core member of our front office,” Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Zachary Z. Kleiman said. “His knowledge of the game is exceptional and we are thrilled he will continue providing valuable contributions to the organization on a day-to-day basis.”
