Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold received a favorable ruling in court on Friday morning as a Florida judge denied the state’s request to place him on a GPS ankle monitor while he awaits trial on felony kidnapping and robbery charges.
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the court rejected prosecutors’ motion, allowing Arnold to remain free without electronic monitoring.
While Arnold avoided the additional restriction, the court’s previous bond conditions remain in place. He must stay confined to his home in Florida except for work-related activities or meetings with his attorneys.
The ruling marks another development in Arnold’s ongoing legal case, which led to the Lions releasing the former first-round draft pick earlier this month. After clearing waivers, Arnold became an unrestricted free agent and remains eligible to sign with another NFL team while his legal situation plays out.
Arnold continues to face multiple felony charges, and no trial date has been announced.
